Digging through code buried inside the latest build of Samsung’s Camera app, XDA has stumbled upon possible features for future devices from the company. Based on the timing, it’s believed that any newly discovered features should belong to the Galaxy S11 family, since its the next group of devices coming from Samsung.

While which set of devices you’ll find the following features on is yet to be confirmed, what can be specifically mentioned are the features. According to the code, an 8K video recording capability could be available from Samsung in the future, which ties in with a previous report that the company would utilize a 108MP camera in a future device.

Also found in the app is a reference to a display aspect ratio of 20:9. For reference, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ have an aspect ratio of 19:9. It can’t be confirmed yet which device could feature a 20:9, but apparently, Samsung is working on one.

If you want to get excited about rumored specs, the cool takeaway is the 8K video recording. The downside to 8K recording is file size and supported platforms for sharing such files. YouTube supports 8K, but then again, not a lot of people have displays capable of viewing 8K videos. Marketing gimmick? As of right now, yeah, probably.
