Smartphone Technology is progressing at such a rapid pace in the present times that manufacturers are facing heady troubles in trying to differentiate their product from their rivals. The latest bug to have bitten the manufacturers especially Samsung and ZTE is foldable Screens.
Samsung has been in the news quite a few times and the rumor mill too, is very strong with leaks and patent filings aiding in corroboration. Samsung seems to be playing the long game with foldable screens tech.
Rumours have started doing the rounds that ZTE and AT&T are to collaborate and design a new dual screen foldable Smartphone. Reports and leaks suggest the phone to be named Axon Multy.
The Axon Multy is being said to draw heavy inspiration from the Kyocera Echo smartphone which was launched way back in 2011. ZTE and AT&T are also in talks to release a few more handsets which are similar in design.
The Axon Multy
The smartphone is to have a foldable clamshell design which basically means that the smartphone is to fold along its vertical axis. The Axon Multy is to come with two 6.8 inch touchscreen displays on the front and rear respectively. The resolution of these two screens is to be 1920X1080p i.e. full HD. The smartphone in its open or unfolded state is to sport a combined screen display of 13.6 inches with 2160X1920p resolution.
The smartphone going with the present design language being followed in the market will be thinner than 10 mm even in its folded state; this means a super slim device.
The Axon Multy is to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled along with 4 GB(gigabytes) of RAM under the hood to power the smartphone to go through its usables with ease. The battery size is being speculated to be at 3150mAh (mili Ampere hours), giving it decent backup for the day.
Image capturing duties are to be dispensed with a single 20 MP (mega pixel) unit doing duty on the rear.
The Axon Multy when released (some time end October) will retail at 650 USD. The device being designed in collaboration with AT&T implies that AT&T will most probably have exclusive rights to market and distribute the smartphone. The Axon Multy will also come bundled with AT&T’s own media consumption data package to enable the customer to draw maximum benefits possible from the device.
The ZTE Axon Multy is to be released only in the United States of America as of now with no plans for it to be launched in other markets and countries.
Going with consumer anticipation all around the world, we do hope that ZTE does announce plans to release the device in other major markets too.
Regardless of the Axon Multy being released world over or just in the United States, the Axon Multy is a very exciting proposition which we all will have to wait and watch unfold once ZTE does make the official announcement for its release dates.
