Huawei’s long-awaited foldable phone, the Mate X, was unveiled earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC). On top of being the tech behemoth’s first foldable phone, it is also Huawei’s first commercial 5G compatible phone.
Huawei Mate X, with its hefty price tag of $2,580 will be available for sales somewhere around June 2019. The phone has now been listed on the company’s official website and reveals the specifications it will feature.
Huawei Mate X comes with a patented design called, “Falcon wing design” by the company. Contrary to Samsung Galaxy Fold, the patented hinge with more than 100 components gives a gap-free fold.
When unfolded, the phone features an 8-inch display with a 2480 x 2200 resolution and 8:7.1 aspect ratio, with very thin bezels. When folded, Mate X features two screens, one that measures 6.38 inches and the other one which spans 6.6 inches. The former features a 2480 x 892 resolution (a little less than Full HD+) and a 25:9 aspect ratio whereas the latter features a Full HD+ 2480 x 1148 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side, accessible in both, folded and unfolded states.
The phone is powered by an octa-core chipset, the company’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 980 and Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. It is a dual-sim phone with 5G available for SIM 1 only. The second SIM is housed in a hybrid SIM/microSD card slot.
Mate X comes with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB in-built memory that can be extended with an SD card. The OS is Android 9.0 Pie topped with the EMUI 9.1.1 custom interface.
